Daddy, Are There Ghosts?

My daughter asked me if ghosts were real the other day, and it took me a minute to figure out how to respond to her.  For a seven year old, the idea of ghosts is frightening so I had to be conservative with my response.  My explanation went over well so I thought I would share with my readers.

Yes, sweetie, but it’s important to know that these ghosts are called angels and saints and live in Heaven with God. They are there watching over you and praying for you. The ghosts you see and hear about on TV are made up and are the creation of someone writing a story to scare people.  So, the next time you are afraid of ghosts, remember that they are nice ghosts and watching you from Heaven.

This answer seemed to please her and she didn’t ask any more questions.

How have you explained ghosts to your kids?

This is the family at the Biltmore Estate this past summer. This was my first visit to the house and it was a blast! If you are ever in Asheville, NC you have to check this place out!  There are over 200 rooms in this mansion and each room has been restored and looks the way it did when the family actually lived there.  There is also a set of shops and a few restaurants that are worth checking out.  You can also go to the winery which is nearby and take a tour!  We ate at the restaurant at the winery and it was amazing!

A habit you wish you didn’t have

I have a bad habit of leaving my clothes in the floor.  Doesn’t matter what time of day or how busy I am I seem to never be able to put clothes where they go.  I wish I were more organized with laundry!

The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

There’s not much to figure out why I named the blog, Go Ask Your Daddy.  I wanted to create a blog about parenting from a daddy’s perspective and wanted to incorporate a common phrase.  Go ask your daddy is something my mom always said plus asking daddy means daddy gives a response – hence the parenting advice and experience I post on this blog. Make sense?
