MY POOR EYESIGHT
You probably don’t know that I have less than stellar eyesight. I’ve worn some type of vision correction since I was in elementary school.
I’m probably not the only one to confess this, but I tend to over wear my contact lenses, which I’m sure is not good for the overall health of my eyes.
One thing my optometrist told me the last time I went in for my routine eye exam was to cut back on the amount of time I wear my contact lenses during the day. Right now, I wear them from 6:30 in the morning until about 11:00 at night.
Yeah, I know, that’s a lot of time wearing contacts. Not to mention, I’m staring at 2 computer screens 8 hours a day for my day job. My eyes get a lot of work just through the normal routine of daily life.
So, when my eye doctor told me to cut back on my contact usage, I started to panic. I switched from glasses to contacts over 20 years ago because I loved the idea of never having to wear glasses all the time.
But, being the good patient that I am, I listened to my eye doctor’s advise and started wearing glasses more. The problem? My existing pair of glasses was old, scratched and bent to the point where they weren’t providing me with any benefit.
GLASSESSHOP.COM TO THE RESCUE!
Glassesshop.com was more than happy to give me a complimentary pair of prescription glasses (which I received a few days ago) in exchange for my honest review of their company.
Glassesshop.com is an online retailer of eyeglasses founded by eye doctors that was launched in 2004. It is owned and operated in the United States. Since their launch, they have delivered more than one million pairs of eyeglasses to customers in more than 45 countries.
ORDERING YOUR GLASSES IS EASY
It takes less than 5 minutes to order your glasses through Glassesshop.com. The first step is to order your glasses frames. There is an overwhelming selection of frames on their website.
I chose the Beck Classic Wayframe – Blue frames. These frames combine a polished metal look with a comfortable antiallergic silica gel. There are four color options to choose from: blue, black, bronze and gunmental. A great feature of these frames is that they come with an adjustable nose pad.
Once you’ve picked out the amazing pair of frames you like, the next step is to select the color and size. Size can be a bit tricky to figure out, but luckily there is a size guide to help.
The next step is to select your lens (if you are purchasing lenses). You can choose from single vision, multifocal or fashion.
After you have customized your glasses to suit your needs, you can then upload a copy of your prescription. Some pairs of glasses will require you to submit your PD (pupillary distance). I learned this the hard way because Glassesshop.com contacted me when they noticed it was missing from my prescription.
The PD is important because it measures the distance between your pupils. If you don’t know it, Glassesshop.com has a tutorial on how to measure it yourself, or you can go to your optometrist for them to measure it for you.
Not sure if your frames will fit? You can actually upload a picture of your face and try them on virtually.
I absolutely love my new glasses! For once, I feel comfortable enough to wear them outside of the house. The old pair I had before was so cheap and ugly that I didn’t want anyone to ever see me in them.
I’m impressed with the comfort, quality and design of my new glasses! The cheapo pair can now bite the dust!
