The weather is going to turn good soon. It has to. And as such, we can break out of our winter-time cocoons, open the windows and start planning for the summer. However, that isn’t easy in itself. Summer comes and goes so quick, and we seem to fill it with all the generic things like beach days and barbecues and gardening and DIY and all of that. But what if 2017 is the year that we put a stop to all that, and found an activity that we could really get into. It could be something totally extreme and heart-pounding. It could be something fun and fluid. It could be something peaceful and relaxing. Whatever your style. The question is what. And that is where we come in. The more relaxing side of things.

Perhaps you’re not quite at the age of recklessness, by which we mean enduring either a mid-life crisis or a nothing to lose epoch in your existence. That’s cool, because there are still so many different types of activity you can get your teeth into. Fishing is such a good example. What could be more relaxing than being stood by a river, surrounded by nature and mountain peaks, as you try and land a catch. There is a reason why it is the sport with the highest participation rates. For the adrenaline-junkies out there.

Where do we start. Well, probably with the more accessible of this infinite list. Why not take up a hobby like, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, rafting mountaineering, mountain biking or coasteering. You’ve probably heard of most of these, except the latter that is. Coasteering is relatively ambiguous, but it involves making your way along a coastline, and that means hiking, swimming and diving, typically anyway. Of course, if it is heights you’re looking for then the list is pretty endless. For example, why not start enjoying one of the following: Canyon swinging, bungee jumping, skydiving, cliff-face camping, hot air ballooning, cliff jumping, bridge climbing, base-jumping, hang gliding, parascending, wing walking or zip-lining. Of course, all of these need to be done in a safe-environment and under the supervision of a professional, but they will really get your heart pounding. And once you’re competent, well, who knows where in the world you’ll go on your next road trip, desperately searching for the best spots to get your next thrill.
